Elementary Level Speaking Skill is copied and adapted from Buckingham and Craven (New Get Real 1, Macmillan, New York, 2012).
This book consists of 6 units intended to encourage students to speak with the help of colored pictures illustrating relevant contexts. Because a picture might mean “a thousand words”, it can stimulate students to express their ideas and feelings without too much explanation by their teacher. Students will have more opportunity to practice the target language if the students can negotiate the meanings by themselves than just listening to explanation from their teacher.

WHAT IS SPEAKING?

Speaking is the delivery of language through the mouth. To speak, we create sounds using many parts of our body, including the lungs, vocal tract, vocal chords, tongue, teeth and lips.

This vocalized form of language usually requires at least one listener. When two or more people speak or talk to each other, the conversation is called a "dialogue". Speech can flow naturally from one person to another in the form of dialogue. It can also be planned and rehearsed, as in the delivery of a speech or presentation. Of course, some people talk to themselves! In fact, some English learners practise speaking standing alone in front of a mirror.

Speaking can be formal or informal:

• Informal speaking is typically used with family and friends, or people you know well.
• Formal speaking occurs in business or academic situations, or when meeting people for the first time.

Speaking is probably the language skill that most language learners wish to perfect as soon as possible. It used to be the only language skill that was difficult to practise online. This is no longer the case. English learners can practise speaking online using voice or video chat and services like Skype. They can also record and upload their voice for other people to listen to.

APA ITU TOEIC?

TOEIC adalah singkatan dari Test of English as International Communication yang digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan seseorang dalam Bahasa Inggris. Pada dasarnya TOEIC terdiri dari 100 soal Listening Section (part 1 photographs, part 2 questions and responses, part 3, conversations, part 4 talks) dan 100 soal Reading Section, yang meliputi 3 bagian: Bagian 5 melengkapi kalimat (lebih fokus pada tata bahasa), bagian 6 melengkapi teks ((lebih fokus pada penguasaan kata tetapi masih berkaitan erat dengan tata bahasa)  dan bagian 7 adalah pemahaman terhadap isi suatu teks bacaan/ wacana. Sehingga total seluruh soal yang harus dikerjakan saat mengikuti ujian TOEIC adalah 200 soal.
APA YANG DIPELAJARI DI DALAM BUKU INI?
Di dalam buku ini penulis menekankan pentingnya pemahaman suatu arti dan penggunaan kata yang tepat yang berkaitan erat dengan pola kata atau susunan kalimat yang benar menurut kaidah Bahasa Inggris, serta pemahaman terhadap bacaan. Pembaca akan dibimbing untuk menguasai TOEIC bagian reading secara bertahap melalui 28 hari pertemuan. Tentu jumlah pertemuan untuk menguasai TOEIC tersebut bersifat relatif, karena semakin anda giat dan cukup waktu secara terus menerus berlatih maka akan dicapai hasil yang maksimal, tetapi bila anda tidak konsisten dan tidak cukup waktu yang disisihkan, atau di saat tertentu saja giat lalu kadang-kadang malas kadang-kadang rajin, maka semakin kecil pula keberhasilannya.

IELTS Writing Section Workbook is compiled, copied and adapted from Roberts, Rachael, Gakonga, and Andrew (IELTS Foundation, 2004), Allen, Powell, and Dolby (IELTS Graduation, 2006), and Hopkins and Cullen (Grammar for IELTS 2008) O’Connel, (Focus on IELTS, 2003). This Workbook is intended to provide sufficient resources in IELTS Academic Writing Section. There are two parts in this book; Task one and Task two. Therefore, the arrangement of this book is mainly based on these two sections. This book is ideal for supplementary, so its use is just to give students additional practices when the students need more writing activities apart from the hand book used.
